フォトジェニック photogenic
原義はphoto- + -genic（〜によって作られた）で「光によって生じた」の意味で、19世紀中頃に"photogenic drawing"（「写真」のこと。初期の表現）として用いられたのが最初。写真映りがよい、の意味が加わったのは1928年。
英語としては、ほかに「発光する」*1の意味もある。「光によって生じた」の意味では"photogenic epilepsy"（光源性てんかん）などの語がある。
